A Picnic for Two

A throwback to July to that time when we accidentally outdone ourselves in the kitchen for a picnic for two.

So extra
- buttered rice
- sweet and sour ikan bawal
- ikan goreng and fried trout
- banana choc muffin with a touch of cinnamon 😍😍
- keropok ikan and keropok lekor
- karipap
- papaya and cavendish
- nasik goreng from last night

At the back of the hotel we were staying for the weekend was a small bay which would only be accessible via the private residences and the hotel; naturally turns it into an unofficial private beach.

It was 2pm. Perfectly no one in sight, no sounds of people talking loudly or watching loud media on their phones, or raucous sounds of the traffic from the road or from the water sports activities that are so common in Feringghi area. It was a precious peaceful moment that was so unusual, it was almost too good to be true. A stark contrast to our nearly 2-hour journey of getting here made possible with kilometres of traffic jam earlier.

I kept on turning my head, scanning around the area and the luxury condos behind us to check if there would be any signs that would spoil this rare moment. There was none, not even a hint. It was like we were right in the aftermath of a school holiday, that peaceful period where the single people can finally flock to hotels-by-the-beach and can actually rejuvenate in peace.

There were only us, our foods, our reading materials, and our time to ourselves. Not to break this rare moment that was granted to us purely out of a pleasant surprise, we stick to our ownselves for the rest of the time after our late lunch. It was our beach, to each her own for a moment.

Banana choc cinnamon muffin 😍😍

The area was clean, pleasantly windy. The low hung coconut trees were right in the middle of the bay, providing just the right touch of shades and walking bare foot in warm beach sands simply felt therapeutic. Though it's usually hard for me to let my guard down in an unfamiliar place, after a couple of pages into the book I was reading, I fell asleep right there on the beach. Just breathing in the sea breeze made it felt so right. The day remained blissfully tranquil throughout.

At nearly 5pm, I was awoken. My PIC grew wary with the lizard we saw swimming away earlier; worried that it might come back and ransact our foods. So we packed up and, I groggily, made our way back to the hotel.

Upon reaching the room, opening the sliding doors simply let the same breeze inside. I continued my afternoon 'nap', conserving energy for durian hunting the next day. Our extravaganza lunch picnic made it till dinner. Home cooked food is always the best.

P/s: Thanks, daddy, for the picnic mat.

Thank you for reading.
